Medicaid Eligibility

Medicaid Eligibility

While the rules may have changed in 2005, our needs have not. Medicaid eligibility requirements for the tens of thousands of Americans who must pay for long term nursing home care became more stringent in 2005, when the President signed the Deficit Reduction Act in an effort to reduce the growth of government spending on entitlement programs such as Medicaid.

How will you pay?

Yet the federal government did not provide an alternative financial mechanism to help families foot the bill when you or a family member must enter a nursing facility for what is often years of expensive supervised care. What it called “loopholes” allowing people to transfer assets to their children in order to qualify for Medicaid benefits, were the very means that allowed many, many families to afford care without creating even greater hardship for themselves and their families.

Medicaid Elegibility offered expert advice and assistance when it was time to put Mom & Dad in a nursing home. After we made the recommended changes to their portfolioand applied for Medicaid. My family and I were extremely relieved when Mom & Dad were approved, and we were able to preserve the bulk of their assests. Thanks, Medicaid Elegibility, you really saved the day.".

Medicaid Eligibility Will Continue to Get More Restrictive

Continued federal fiscal proposals aim to “save” billions more on Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security spending in the coming years.  As growing numbers of baby boomers reach a point in their lives where long term care is absolutely necessary, the federal government continues to make it more difficult for them to pay for it. By 2010 there is expected to be a substantial decrease in the percentage people who need nursing home care compared to those who can actually afford it.
